Paul’s practice focuses on representing news, entertainment, and other media clients in defamation and privacy suits, as well as litigating and advising media clients on copyright and trademark matters. Paul has experience with all stages of litigation, including appeals and managing discovery.
Paul began his legal career by serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas L. Ambro of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. While in law school, he interned for the Honorable Louis H. Pollak of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining LSKS, Paul was a litigation associate with Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis, where he was a member of the firm’s appellate and financial services practice groups.
Before law school, Paul studied political science at Princeton University and was a lecturer at Princeton University, Swarthmore College, and Temple University. He also wrote opinion columns for The American Prospect and the Willamette Week.
Notable Representations
Life Education Counsel, Inc. v. CBS Outdoor Inc. , 2011 WL 3915631 (D.N.J. Sept. 2, 2011). Paul and Lee Levine successfully obtained dismissal of an action against CBS Outdoor alleging that it violated the plaintiffs’ constitutional rights by refusing to run an anti-abortion advertisement. The Court held that, as a private company, CBS Outdoor has a right to place editorial restrictions on expression in forums it controls.
